  1. Membership Updates (Cheryl Wieczorek): Nurse Practitioner registration for membership is done only online through website www.pacnp.org. All NP members must be up-to-date with their PCNP memberships or they will no longer receive invitations to the monthly meetings. There are now official membership cards available from PCNP. Physician Assistants also need to keep current with their membership renewals in order to continue receiving monthly invitations to meetings. PAs register with Lisa Ferguson on a paper registration form annually to update your dues with a New Membership form or Renewal Form. You will also need to update your payment of dues each year with your membership renewal. You can contact Lisa Ferguson at laferguson11@gmail.com. Please make sure you have a current email address listed on the PCNP site or with Lisa Ferguson (for PAs). The emails for invitations each month are derived from the current PCNP list online and current PA list from Lisa Ferguson.
  2. Meeting Logistics (Emmie Amerine): RSVPs are MANDATORY! To RSVP for the meetings, contact ChesMont Secretary, Denise Felsenstein through email at Chesmont-NPPA@comcast.net . Guests are welcome and will be allowed as long as we have room. If you would like to bring a guest, you need to provide their name and title when you RSVP. Our sponsors need this information for their records. Guests must register with member and sign-in upon attending meeting. If you or your guest must cancel, please send-in your cancellation by email to Denise at Chesmont-NPPA@comcast.net as soon as you are aware that you are unable to attend. This provides members who are on the waiting list with an opportunity to attend the meeting.

  4. CE’s for tonight’s lecture: It is possible that we might be able to get contact hours for attending tonight’s meeting. Please make sure you complete the CE Sign-In sheet and Fill-out an evaluation form. We are waiting for approval for providing CEs.
  5. Pennsylvania Coalition of Nurse Practitioners (PCNP) Updates (Cheryl Schlamb):
  1. Cheryl Schlamb will attend the November PCNP meeting as ChesMont’s representative. Barbara LaVerghetta attended the PCNP meeting and they anticipate Board structure changes to help promote growth for PCNP. 4. About Senate Bill 1063:
    • It would bring PA up to date with 17 other states and DC by removing an outdated mandate that requires NPs to enter into formal legal agreements with physicians in order to practice.
    • It allows Nurse Practitioners to operate independent businesses.
    • It expands access to primary health care across Pennsylvania.
    • It gives hospitals and healthcare providers more control over medical staff membership, clinical privileges, and who can refer patients to a specialist.
    • It allows insurers and other third party payors to reimburse NPs directly for their services as a primary care provider.
  1. Physician Assistant Updates/Announcements (Lisa Ferguson): Lisa Ferguson advised us at the meeting that we are getting more PAs to join and attend the meetings! Emphasize importance of keeping email addresses updated with Lisa.
  2. Next Meeting: Our next meeting will be held on Wed, Nov. 19th at the Kimberton Inn. The sponsor will be Amgen, and the topic will be Chronic Kidney Disease (CPK). This will be the last meeting of the 2014 calendar year! Since ChesMont does not hold a meeting in December, our next meeting will be January 21, 2015.
  3. RSVP to Meetings: Members need to RSVP to meetings in order to attend. Send RSVPs to Denise at ChesMont-NPPA@comcast.net .
