  1. Lecture for Tonight’s Meeting: Topic is “Homozygous Familial Hyperlipidemia”. The speaker tonight is Suzanne Shugg DNP, CLS. She is a Board Certified Clinical Lipidologist & Director of the Preventative Cardiology Clinic. Our sponsor tonight is Aegerion. Tonight’s presentation is not approved for CEUs.
  1. Sponsors: Thank you to Mary Keirsey for getting us sponsors. We need an assistant to help Mary with getting the sponsors. We need someone to volunteer who is working in a facility where they see pharmacy representatives. If we don’t get enough sponsors throughout the year, we’ll need to either meet every-other month, or limit meetings in the summer. If you would like to volunteer for this position, please contact Mary at mary_keirsey@yahoo.com . Joe Schatz attained our speakers for this month and for another meeting. Thanks, Joe!
  2. CEs: None for tonight’s meeting. It is getting too difficult for us to obtain CEs for our meetings.
  3. Membership Updates (Cheryl Wieczorek): All NP members must be up-to-date with their PCNP memberships or they will no longer receive invitations to the monthly meetings. Nurse Practitioners have to register online. Go onto www.pacnp.org to register. There are now official membership cards from PCNP. Physician Assistants also need to keep current with their membership renewals in order to continue receiving monthly invitations to meetings. PAs need to register with Lisa Ferguson on a paper registration form annually to update your dues. You can contact her at laferguson11@gmail.com. Bring another NP or PA or students or retirees to come as your guest and to possibly join our association. Membership is $125 per year. Check online to see when your membership renewal is due so that your membership does not lapse. If your membership lapses then you will stop receiving emails and meeting invitations. The emails for invitations each month are derived from the current PCNP list online and current PA list from Lisa Ferguson. Please make sure you have a current email address listed on the PCNP site or with Lisa Ferguson (for PAs).
  4. Attendance and Meeting Logistics (Emmie Amerine): Sign-in is necessary for EVERYONE who attends the meetings. RSVPs are MANDATORY! IF you must cancel, please send-in your cancellation. Guests are welcome and will be allowed as we have room. Guests must RSVP too (or the person bringing them as a guest), and we need to have their name included for the RSVP list. See Emmie Amerine when checking-in if you have any questions about this procedure.
  5. PCNP (Pennsylvania Coalition of Nurse Practitioners) Updates (Sue Mattei provided update for Cheryl Schlamb):
    1. We were looking for a volunteer that will attend the Regional Board Meeting and President’s Meeting being held in State College on July 19 from 8am to 4pm. Beth Kotarski volunteered to attend the meeting. She will provide us with legislative updates and find out what other state chapters are doing at next month’s meeting. Beth will also be giving a lecture at the November PCNP conference on Eating Disorders in Primary Care
    2. Next meeting we will find out more about the Pittsburgh Conference for PCNP in November. Information about the conference has been posted on the PCNP website.
  1. Physician Assistant updates/announcements: Lisa Ferguson provided information that we presently have 10 paying members for Physician Assistants.
  2. Next Meeting: Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at the Kimberton Inn. We will be having a lecture on Psychiatric Pharmacogenomics by Dr. Raymond Lorenz. Thank you to Mary for organizing sponsors for us. Please volunteer to assist Mary with obtaining sponsors so we can continue having monthly meetings!
  3. RSVP to Meetings: Members need to RSVP to meetings by 5:00pm on the Friday prior to the meeting date each month. Send RSVPs to ChesMont-NPPA@comcast.net at any time between the end of one meeting and the Friday before the next meeting.
