Meeting Minutes for Wed. Jan.20, 2016, 6:00pm to 8:00pm

Meeting was conducted by Lisa Adams, Secretary due to absence of Sue Mattei, Barbara Laverghetta, Emmie Amerine and Cheryl Schlamb.

  1. Lecture for Tonight’s Meeting: Tonight’s lecture was presented by Peter Bentivegna from Amarin Pharmaceuticals. Topic was Updates in Hypertriglycerdemia and Emerging Disease State Research. Thank you for providing a very informative lecture.
  1. Attendance:

***Please note there were several “No shows” at tonight’s meeting. Please do not RSVP that you are coming if you cannot make it. If for whatever reason you cannot make it after you RSVP’d yes, please send a message to Chesmont.nppn@comcast.net. The Rep and Kimberton prepare and pay for you. In addition, it does not allow for others to take your place. Thank you for your participation and consideration of others.

  1. Legislative Updates: (Cheryl Schlamb):
  1. Cheryl Schlamb was absent tonight as she was at a DNP conference in Florida. Cheryl’s message from recent PCNP conference included that Lorraine Bock has offered to come and speak to us about PCNP updates. An informal survey was taken and by a show of hands, members are interested in having Lorraine briefly present. Perhaps from 530pm-6pm or 6-630pm. Cheryl will keep us updated when that will occur.
  1. Lobby Day is May 17th! Save the date!


  1. Full Practice Authority Campaign Update–#CareforPA: Lisa Adams discussed #CareforPA campaign. She expressed gratitude for all the donations to PCNP. Advised that we are still in good position to pass in the Senate with no problems. The focus is now on the House. Keep Writing Letters and discuss with your House Reps!!!! This is Senator Pat Vance’s last year! She has been our champion and we really hope to get this done this year. Thank you for all your support.   1. PCNP’s 2016 Conference is scheduled for November 3-5, 2016 at the Kalahari Conference Center in the Pocono’s. Save the date! More details to follow on the PCNP website: http://www.pacnp.org/ .
  1. PAC Fund (Teresa Holman):
    1. We still need to boost funds due to recent legislative activities. Thank you for the recent donations to help with the legislative agenda. PCNP still needs support with PAC Fund. Please consider donating money to the PAC Fund. Checks payable to PCNP PAC.
  1. 50/50 Raffle: Tonight’s total was $180
  1. Medical Lectures Update and Upcoming Meetings (Mary Keirsey):
    1. Thank you to Mary who secured tonight’s rep.
    2. Amanda Laskoskie and Penny Vanderbeek-thank you for your help!
    3. Sponsors are booked up until May, 2016!
  2. CEU Chairperson: Tricia has provided a list of CEU opportunities. These are now accessible via the ChesMont website.
  1. Membership Updates (Cheryl Wieczorek):
    1. Please note**** ChesMont membership list is retrieved from the PCNP website! It is important that you keep up to date via the PCNP website. Currently we are provided quarterly updates from PCNP***
    2. Please check the PCNP website at www.pacnp.org for your membership status and renewal date. Please also confirm the correct email address as well. Memberships are only ONLINE for nurse practitioner members. We now have official membership cards from PCNP.
    3. Physician Assistants (PAs) are not online for PCNP and will need to fill-out membership forms each year. PAs will need to see Cheryl Wieczorek (email: cherylwiz@comcast.net ) for new registration forms to renew your membership and pay annual ChesMont dues. There are currently 6 PA members. Lisa Adams advised she can manage the current 6 members, but suggested if the PA panel reaches 10 or greater, a PA member will need to represent the group.
  1. Attendance and Meeting Logistics (Emmie Amerine):
    1. New Whoozin.com RSVP continues to work well! Invitations to meetings are pulled from the current PCNP member list. First come, first serve. There is a RSVP deadline as mandated by Kimberton Inn and the sponsor.
    2. All members and guests must sign-in on both sheets: **This is mandatory**

    3. RSVPs are MANDATORY!! If you RSVP your attendance to a meeting but later find that you are unable to attend, please cancel your RSVP as indicated on the Whoozin invitation and contact the ChesMont Secretary at chesmont.nppa@comcast.net.
    4. Guests are welcome, and will be allowed as we have room. Guests need to be either an APRN or PA. Guests or their host must RSVP to the meeting. When you RSVP for your guest, please provide their name and professional status (NP, PA, or student).
  2. Basket Raffle :
    1. Diana Bragoli has offered to bring Valentine basket donation for next month! Thank you!
    2. Please consider donating a basket for a future meeting.
  1. Job Opportunities:
    1. Volunteer Position: St. Agnes Nurse’s Center in West Chester, PA is looking for volunteers on Saturday mornings 10am to 12noon and Wednesday afternoons from 4pm to 6pm. Contact Terry Berkman at email address: berkmanct@aol.com or phone #484-883-6945.
    2. Brandywine: Cardiology looking for experienced APRN
    3. Chester County Hospital: Looking for ICU nurses.
    4. Brandywine GI Associates- looking for help with Dr. Myers. If interested in contact www.brandywiegi.com.
    5. West Chester University– Previously, Cheryl Schlamb also noted that WCU has availability for the DNP program in the fall and spring.
